該書的理論基礎(chǔ)來源于聽說法（Audiolingual Method），是上世紀(jì)40年代產(chǎn)生于美國(guó)的第二語(yǔ)言教學(xué)法。強(qiáng)調(diào)通過反復(fù)的句型結(jié)構(gòu)操練培養(yǎng)口語(yǔ)聽說能力，又稱“句型法”或“結(jié)構(gòu)法”?！队⒄Z(yǔ)900句》是該理論的代表教材。
目前國(guó)內(nèi)由海南（三環(huán)）出版社出版，不過貌似目前沒有再版只能買到復(fù)印版。
