火鍋一年四季都有人喜歡吃，但你知道火鍋真正的英文表達(dá)嗎？

說(shuō)成hotpot的怕是要吃個(gè)寂寞了~

一.hotpot不是“火鍋”！

hotpot在國(guó)外是:土豆燉肉

燜罐(內(nèi)裝燉的肉、土豆、洋蔥等);小電熱鍋(可燒水或熱飯)

hotpot沒(méi)有火鍋的意思，如果你約外國(guó)朋友吃火鍋時(shí)說(shuō)hotpot，外國(guó)人只會(huì)以為你想吃土豆燉肉。

例:

Its said that the foreigners love hotpot.

據(jù)說(shuō)，老外還挺喜歡吃土豆燉肉.

We have a lamb hotpot for lunch.

我們今天中午吃土豆燉羊肉。

二.“火鍋”怎么說(shuō)？

“火鍋”的英文是: hot pot

hot和pot，一定是分開(kāi)的

為避免誤會(huì),“火鍋”要這樣說(shuō): Chinese hot pot

這樣，加了特色的Chinese,不管是合在一起的,還是分開(kāi)的,老外都能get到你的意思。

例：

I enjoy eating the spicy hot pot with my friends in the winter.

在冬天，我喜歡和朋友一起吃麻辣火鍋。

如果你怕說(shuō)錯(cuò)的話，也可以用chaffy dish。

例：

I had chaffy dish for supper last night, but it seemed tasteless to have supper alone.

昨晚我自己吃火鍋，但好像一個(gè)人的晚飯沒(méi)有那么香。

在國(guó)外，一般用fondue來(lái)表示火鍋。fondue既可以表示奶酪火鍋，也可以表示熱油火鍋。

為了避免外國(guó)人誤會(huì)我們說(shuō)的是奶酪火鍋，我們可以說(shuō)meat fondue、Chinese fondue。涮火鍋我們可以說(shuō)have fondue。

例：

We can eat Chinese fondue.

我們可以吃熱油火鍋。

身邊總有一位不吃辣的朋友，吃火鍋必點(diǎn)一個(gè)鴛鴦鍋。

那么怎么樣來(lái)表示鴛鴦鍋呢?其實(shí)它翻譯為Double-flavor hot pot。也是很形象了，因?yàn)轼x鴦鍋就是兩種湯底嘛。

一邊麻辣一邊清湯：

spicy broth 麻辣鍋

plain broth 清湯鍋

例：

I really like this restaurant, the Double-flavor hot pot is amazing!
