In the modern Olympics,some things are the same no matter which country is hosting, and some things change.

在現(xiàn)在奧運會中，不論哪個國家舉辦，有些事是不變的，有些事是變化的。

For example, the Olympicsymbolis always the same.

例如，奧運會的標(biāo)識一直是不變的。

The five rings stand for the five continents united together.

五環(huán)代表了五大洲連結(jié)在一起。

The blue ring stands for Europe,the red ring for America, the yellow ring for Asia,the green ring for Australia and the black ring for Africa.

藍色的環(huán)代表歐洲，紅色的環(huán)代表美洲，黃色的環(huán)代表亞洲，綠色的環(huán)代表澳洲，黑色的環(huán)代表非洲。

The Olympicmotto,"Faster,Higher,Stronger", stays the same for every Olympics.

奧運會的格言是“更快、更高、更強”，這個口號歷屆不變。

And of course, the torch - asymbolof peace, light and friendship - is always there.

However,some things are different.

The Olympicslogan,for example,is created by the host city, and it reflects the spirit of those Olympics.

At the 1992 Olympics,the U.S. basketball team defeated all the other teams and won the goldmedal.

People called them the Dream Team.

They had a great influence on people everywhere - not just in the Olympic Games.

A dream team is considered to be the greatest team in its field.

There are many dream teams in the world of sports.

Canada s dream team plays on ice - it s the country s ice hockey team.

For Brazil it might be the men s volleyball or soccer team.

What is China s dream team?

Many people would say that it s the diving team.

The team won the most gold medals for China in the most recent Olympics.

在最近幾屆奧運會上，這個隊伍為中國贏得了最多的金牌。

China also has dream teams in ping-pong and badminton.

中國還有乒乓球夢之隊和羽毛球夢之隊。

Time after time, these teams have won gold medals for China.

However, there is more to a dream team than winning gold medals.

但是，對夢之隊來說，贏得金牌并不是所有。

A dream team has not only the best players and the bestcoach,but also the best team spirit.

一支夢之隊不僅有最好的選手和最好的教練，還要有最好的團隊精神。

All of the players must work hard and do their best for the team.

所有的選手必須努力，為團隊盡最大的努力。

By working together,theyperformbetter,and they never give up.

通過一起合作，他們表現(xiàn)的更好，他們從不放棄。

That s what makes a dream team!

這就是他們成為夢之隊的原因！

Lesson 36 Classroom Olympics

第36課 教室奧運會

Dear Li Ming,

親愛的李明：

This week in school,we had our own classroom Olympics!

這周在學(xué)校，我們舉行了教室奧運會！

Our class had five different events - jump rope,long jump,sit-ups,push-ups and "Jump over theDinosaur".

我們班舉行了五種不同的項目——跳繩、跳遠、仰臥起坐、俯臥撐以及“跳過恐龍”。

Everyone competed in each event,one by one.

每個人都參加了每個項目，一個接一個。

The events were fun!

這個比賽很好玩！

Sandra won first place in the jump rope event.

桑德拉在跳繩比賽中獲得第一名。

She jumped 180 times in one minute without stopping.

她一分鐘不間斷跳了180下。

Lisa won second place in the long jump.

She jumped very far,but Kim jumped farther.

But my favourite event was Danny s.

但是我最喜歡的項目是丹尼的。

He called it "Jump over the Dinosaur".

It was a race.

這是一個跑步項目。

Each person walked on some paper pizzas, climbed through acardboarddonut and then jumped over a toy dinosaur.

每個人要踩著紙做的披薩走路，穿過一個紙板做的多納圈然后跳過一個玩具恐龍。

We used a watch to see who was the fastest.

我們用秒表來看誰是最快的。

What was the result?

結(jié)果是什么呢？

Danny won the race!

丹尼贏得了比賽！

None of us could catch him!

我們沒人追得上他！

But I was close.

但是我很接近了。

I was only two seconds slower than Danny.

我只比丹尼慢了兩秒鐘。

Brian was sad because he lost.

布萊恩很難過，因為他輸了。

He came in twentieth.

他排在第二十位。

He did his best,but he kept falling off the pizzas!

他盡了最大的努力，但是他不停的從披薩上掉下來！
